Joseph Linus Parker
March 8th, 1946 - July 8th, 2007
Parker, Joseph Linus. ?Joe?, 61, of St. Petersburg, died Sunday, July 8th, 2007 at Hospice House Woodside after a brief illness. He came here in 1957 from his native Paducah, KY. Locally, he was a 1964 graduate of Boca Ciega High School. He attended Pratt University in New York to study art, The School of Art and Science in Colorado and St. Leo University. He was recently the Chief Technology Officer for World Trade Center Tampa Bay and Chief Technology Officer and Graphic Designer for Red Bear Clothing Company in St. Petersburg. He was an artist dealing in the mediums of fine art, digital art, and photography. Joe was also a writer and served as the publisher of a weekly newspaper in Treasure Island, publisher of his own newspaper and the author of the translation of The Federalist Papers into plain language. Joe?s hobby was photography of St. Petersburg and the Gulf Beaches. He recently completed a collage of local events and places, such as The Museum of Fine Art, The Green Market, Round Lake, Crescent Lake, The Vinoy Park, the Pier, North Shore Park, Gulfport, Pass A Grille Beach, the Treasure Island Kite Festival and many other events and places. Joe?s talent was capturing the spirit of the people attending the events and places. He was a member of the Libertarian Party of Pinellas County, The Florida International Museum and The Smithsonian Institute. He was a Viet Nam Navy veteran. He is survived by 2 sisters, Marion Wilson and her husband Chuck of Peoria, AZ; Sara L?Eon and her husband Gary of St. Petersburg; 1 brother, Ken Parker and his wife Michelle of St. Petersburg; 12 nieces and nephews; 20 grandnieces and grandnephews; and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, M. L. ?Mel? and Eloise Parker of St. Petersburg. He will be interred at Bay Pines National Cemetery.
