Thomas Rutledge Cushman

CUSHMAN, Thomas Rutledge 71, passed away suddenly on September 27, 2011. A beloved St. Petersburg native, he attended St. Petersburg High School, class of 1958. Graduated University of California at Berkley in 1969. He received his law degree from Baylor University and his LLM in tax from Washington University. He moved to St. Louis where he became partner of Peat Marwick & Mitchell. In 1982 returned to St. Petersburg, FL to work with Fischer and Sauls. Later he became founding partner of Cushman, Lefter, & Wilkinson. After retiring from the law community, he became owner/operator of Howard's Flea Market in Homosassa and Webster Westside Flea Market. He loved all things Florida, including fishing, boating, and sailing. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Alice Haley Cushman, his two sisters Nancy Atchison and Carolyn Harrison, two daughters Cheryl Sklaver and Claire Skeps as well as eight grandchildren. In Homosassa, a reception will be held in his honor on Sunday, October 2nd from 9:00 to 10:00 in the courtyard Howards Flea Market (352-628-4656). In St. Petersburg, a gathering will be held on October 4th from 4:00-7:00, and a Memorial will be held on October 5th at 1:00 at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home 727-822-2059.
