April 5th, 1916 - July 13th, 2001
Dan Davis 85, of St. Petersburg, Florida died Friday, July 13, 2001 at St. Anthony's Hospital. He was born in Cecil, GA and came here in 1940 from Dade City, FL. He held a Master Plumber license since 1973 and owned Dan Davis Plumbling, Inc. in St. Petersburg for 16 years. He formerly worked for Otto Krause, General Contractor, and Billy The Sunshine Plumber both in St. Petersburg, McCloskey Shipyard in Tampa, Bechtel Corporation in South America, and worked as a Sub-Contractor for the Atomic Energy Commission in Barnwell, SC and Yakima & Everett in Washington. He served for many years on the License Examining Board for the city of St. Petersburg conducting examinations for applicants for Journeymen and Masters licenses. He was a member of Local #111, Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Union of St. Petersburg and a Master Mason in the Harmony Lodge #17 F&AM in Barnwell, SC. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII where he served in the 138th Replacement Battalion in the Pacific Theater of Operation and was a member of the American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a Charter Member of North East Park Baptist Church in St. Petersburg where he served on the Finance and Property and Grounds Committees. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Mattie, in 1997. He is survived by one son, Clyde "Buddy" Davis, one daughter, JoAnn Turbee both of St. Petersburg, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
