Nancy Lyle Hicks, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away suddenly Tuesday, March 5, 2013 in the emergency room at Bayfront Medical Center with her daughters at her side. She was born in Atlanta, GA at Emory University Hospital May 29, 1943 to her parents John Frederic Lyle and Helen Stockton Holmes Lyle. She moved in 1950 with her parents and two siblings to St Petersburg FL where she attended city schools and graduated from St Petersburg Junior College. During her career Nancy worked at GTE Florida, Suncoast Medical Clinic and Griswold Special Care. She was an Episcopalian. She married James Edward Hicks in November 1965 and had two daughters Kelly and Andrea. The family later moved to Kennesaw, GA when her husband took a management position in the area. Upon the death of her husband in 1984, Nancy and her daughters returned to St Petersburg. In retirement Nancy worked at Griswold Special Care and loved volunteering at The Christmas Toy Shop. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her daily crossword puzzles. She is survived by 2 daughters, Andrea E. Hicks; Kelly H. Hamilton and companion, Scott Matthews; a granddaughter, Marissa A. Hamilton; 1 sister, Susan L. Stansbery and brother-in-law, Fred Stansbery all of St. Petersburg. Her husband James E. Hicks, her brother John F. Lyle Jr. and her parents predeceased her. A memorial service will be 11:00 am Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at E. Dale Gunter Funeral Home 4100-16th St. N. with Father Paul Johansen officiating.
