Pascual A. Lorente
October 23rd, 1908 - February 19th, 2006
Lorente, Rev. Pascual Alcibiades, 97, of St. Petersburg, died Sunday, February 19, 2006 at home under the care of The Hospice Of The Florida Suncoast. He was born in Jiguani, Cuba and moved to Syracuse, NY from Cuba in 1970 where he was an Associate Pastor at the Delaware Baptist Church. In 1988 he moved to Washington Court House, Ohio and moved here in 1997. He graduated from Colegios Internacionales de El Cristo, Oriente, Cuba, with a Bachelor in Theology degree and was the Internacional Gold Medal winner for most outstanding student of the year. After graduation, he served as pastor in Nibujon, Cuba. Together with his wife he founded the Salem Baptist School in 1941 while serving at Baptist Church of Cueto, Oriente, Cuba. He enrolled at the University of Havana in late 1940's and earned a Doctor of Education degree in 1954. During his ministry in Cuba, he was elected twice President of the Eastern Baptist Convention of Churches. He served for several years as a professor of the Baptist Theological Seminary in Villa Teresita, Santiago de Cuba. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in St. Petersburg. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Encarnacion de la Torre Perez; one son, Dr. Abdiel Lorente of Bradenton; one daughter, Hulda Ruth Lorente of St. Petersburg; one brother, Alfredo Lorente of Cuba; two grandchildren, Dr. Miguel Lorente and Cristy Lorente; and two great grandsons. $(document).ready(function(){ });
