John R. Russell, Jr., 81, of Largo, FL, died Wednesday, December 28th, 2005 at the Department Of Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Bay Pines, FL. He moved here in 1981 from his native Indianapolis, IN where he was a member of the American Legion Post 495. He was the owner of a Heating and Air Conditioning Co. He was an U.S. Navy veteran of WW II and became "A Golden Shellback" for having crossed the Equator and the 180th Meridian simultaneously while serving on The USS Fulton. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, C. Virginia; six sons, Christopher "Chris" of Williamsburg, VA., Michael J., David M., Dale M., all of Indianapolis, Peter "Pete" J. of Ponchatoula, LA., John R., III of Largo; two daughters; Kay Voorheis of Largo, Nadine M. Fraser of Wesley Chapel, FL; twenty grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. $(document).ready(function(){ });
