Ralph W. Warner, died Saturday, May 3, 2003 at Palms of Pasadena Hospital, South Pasadena. He was born in Findlay, Ohio, and came here in 1967 from Miami, where he was a sports editor for the Miami Herald. He was a copy editor for the St. Petersburg Times for 14 years, retiring in 1981. He also was a sports editor for the Florida State News in Tallahassee, the Sanford Herald, the Bradenton Herald, the Miami News, and the Tampa Tribune, where he wrote the column "The Morning After" for five years. He was a former vice president of the Florida Sports Writers Association. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Vincent's Episcopal Church. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mildred G.; a brother, Franz W. Chardon, Ohio; four grandchildren, Laura Wilson, Lutz; Leslee Gibson, Macon, GA.; and Franz Glenn Warner Jr. and Susan Warner, both of Tampa; and six great-grandchildren.
