Brian Arthur Oliver

Brian A. Oliver, born in Portland, OR to Robert F Oliver and Joanne Boyer Oliver, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his beloved family after a brief but valiant battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Brian was 59 years old. A lifelong Oregonian, Brian attended Woodstock Elementary School, and Benjamin Franklin High School (class of 1982) in Portland. A member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and an active alumnus, Brian graduated from Oregon State University (class of 1987) with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. His fierce loyalty as a Beaver fan never wavered - he could be seen and heard in the stands for the good seasons, and the bad. Although Brian had many professional achievements and earned countless accolades during his forty-year career in finance, those who knew him will most remember his genuine care and concern for the people around him. Brian lived his life in search of opportunities to lift up others and his proudest accomplishments were the contributions he was able to make to another person’s success. Brian will also be remembered for his unfailing devotion to his family and friends, his deep and abiding faith, and his limitless heart for service. He believed strongly in his obligation to lead by example, and offered his support through mentorship in both his professional and personal life. This commitment to service and leadership also extended to his community in North Marion, where he dedicated his time and support to North Marion YoungLife, coaching youth sports, Men to Serve, numerous school and Non-Profit boards and Grace Chapel Men’s Leadership team. In addition to fellowship, Brian’s passions included golf, grilling up a good meal, and fine red wine. On most Friday nights, he could be found at the Pheasant Run tasting room enjoying a glass or two and sharing conversation with friends, old and new. He also loved planning camping trips with his wife and one-on-one vacations with each of his kids. Wherever he went there was sure to be a good time, and Brian’s warm spirit, infectious smile, and boisterous laugh will be greatly missed. Brian is survived by his beloved wife of thirty-three years Tracy (Schubert) Oliver, and their children Nathan (Emily) Oliver and Jessica Oliver. He is also survived by his siblings Roberta (Andre) Trahan, Peter (Julie) Oliver, and Jennifer Hardwicke; his siblings-in-law Ritch (Sue) Schubert, Cindy (Glenn) Elliott, Angela (Tim) Smith, and his 18 nieces and nephews. A celebration service for family and close friends will be held August 26 at Grace Chapel in Wilsonville at 4pm.
