Clifford Hedlund
February 27th, 1918 - March 19th, 2009
Clifford Hedlund, 91, went to be with the Lord on March 19, 2009. He is now reunited with his beloved wife Jennie who passed away in 1993. A lifelong resident of the Tacoma-Puyallup area, Clifford was born in Ruston, Washington and grew up there and in Puyallup where his parents had bought a farm. Clifford worked as a machinist for Boeing until leaving to care for his parents. During his life, Clifford had attended Central Baptist, Tacoma First Covenant now Praise Covenant, and Redeemer Lutheran churches. Enjoying traveling, and skilled with his hands, Clifford built a travel trailer in which he and his parents went on trips. He also took his mother to Sweden with him before his parents passed away. And after Clifford married Jennie, they went camping in a tent trailer, sometimes with friends. Clifford built a slide for his two nieces who have fond childhood memories of it. If he had a plan for something, he could build it for you. He enjoyed working on his car. Planes, trains, and autos were one of his favorite subjects. And he enjoyed attending local shows and events such as classic car shows held at Fircrest Park. Cliff also enjoyed watching TV programs about animals, travel, history, transportation vehicles, food, and music. He enjoyed his Swedish heritage and attended Scandinavian festivals with his family. He attended many weekly lunch gatherings of his high school class in Puyallup over the years. Talker that he was, he had many friends that he would meet down at the corner coffee shop/café on a daily basis. He had many enjoyable times with friend Cendy Eaton and family who were like a second family to Cliff. Of course he enjoyed parties such as his 91st birthday celebration when extended family and friends came to celebrate with him. Clifford was preceded in death by his wife Jennie, his parents Charles and Hilda Hedlund, and brother Arthur. Cliff is survived by his stepdaughter Christine ( Dave) Beasley, stepson John (Sylvia) Sund, step-granddaughter Liesl Sund, nieces Dolores Ehli of Sumner and Judi Inboden of Puyallup, grand niece Nicole Ehli, and special friend Cendy Eaton and family. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of University Place Care Center and Franciscan Hospice for their loving care. Memorial Service will be held Monday April 6th at 2pm at Praise Covenant Church, 3501 S. Orchard St., Tacoma, WA 98466. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, remembrances are suggested to Franciscan Hospice or your favorite charity.
