Melinda Christie-Jean Barton
June 10th, 1976 - June 8th, 2014
Melinda Christie-Jean Barton was born June 10,1976 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Don and Martha Barton. She moved to Steilacoom, Washington in 1983 then to Buckley, Washington in 1993 where she remained until June 8, 2014 when she lost her battle with diabetes. She was diagnosed at age 9 and fought to survive every day of her life. The last five years or so she was constantly in and out of the hospital, more time in than out. No matter how sick she was she always had a smile on her face and always replied "good" when someone asked how she was doing. She was the strongest woman. She wanted to donate any or all of her body "down to the last drop of blood" if it meant she could make soneone else's life better. She was the sweetest person and was always so happy to see you. She is survived by her mother, Martha Sykes, sister Denice Chamberlain, brother Mikal Barton, and very loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. When she passed, it was like a peace washed over her and all the illness left her face. It was the first time she looked healthy in years, It's painfully beaufiful thing to say it was like God let us see her new perfect body - it was a blessing of a last memory. Please sign our online guest book with any comments or memories. A memorial service will be held June 19, 2014. The family requests donations to The Buckley Fire Fighters Associations, 611 Division Street, Buckley, WA 98321 in lieu of flowers.
