Teresa Curtis
April 28th, 1958 - June 12th, 2019
Teresa Curtis, 61, passed away due to complications of cancer on June 12, 2019 in Olympia, Washington, her home of 40 years. She was born April 28, 1958 to James and Floetta Wilson at Warner Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. She worked for the State of Washington (1978-2016), including WSDOT (1986-2016). Teresa was always there for her friends and family, with a smile on her face. Originally from the South, you could sometimes hear the Georgia Peach accent come out, especially while she was talking on the phone with her sister or dad. Everything she planned was done so perfectly, as she was meticulous and knew exactly which details were important. She could always be counted on to turn lemons to lemonade and provide strength to her family and friends when they needed it most. Teresa loved spending time with her family, whether it was watching a Mariners game or celebrating holidays. She loved to cook and experiment with new recipes, always excited when she heard the yummy noises from those who ate them. She enjoyed spending time working with her flowers and hanging baskets around her patio. Sitting at the “drinking table” admiring colors and critters in the backyard was so relaxing for her. She danced with Satin and Lace at Debbi’s Dance for many years, and loved to travel to the various events at which they were requested to perform. Bowling was a family activity that she enjoyed, and she took pride in beating either her husband or kids on the lanes, never forgetting to remind them of the times she beat them. Teresa enjoyed traveling, especially on Caribbean cruises with her husband and good friends. She loved her annual trip down the Oregon Coast and going to Mariners Spring Training. Fortunately, more recent trips fared better than the family vacations taken while her kids were in school, as there was always a Griswold moment to be had. Teresa is survived by husband, Ray Curtis; son, James Curtis of Yokosuka, Japan; daughter, Andrea Dahl of McCleary, Washington; two grandchildren; brother, Gary Wilson of Marietta, Georgia; sister, Elaine Otterbourg of Marietta; and father, James Wilson of Rome, Georgia. She was predeceased by her mother, Floetta Wilson. A celebration of life will be held Friday, June 21, 2019, 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Tumwater Historical Park, 802 Deschutes Way SW, Tumwater, WA 98501. Sharing remembrances will begin at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Oncology Healing Garden at St. Peter Hospital through the Providence St. Peter Foundation at https://washington.providence.org/donate/st-peter-foundation/donate.
