Gladys Arlene Maus

Gladys Arlene Maus, 75, of Port Charlotte passed away at her residence on Friday, August 15, 2014. Gladys was born on September 28, 1938 in Merced, CA to parents, Fred Ruben Lorentz and Dorthea Esther Margaret Jorgensen-Lorentz. She was the oldest of three children. Gladys worked for many years as an accountant, but her most important job was being an outstanding Navy wife and mother. Gladys was an avid reader. She enjoyed watching college and professional football and baseball, loved country music, watching NASCAR, game shows, and cooking shows. Gladys loved unconditionally; she was a caring and giving woman, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was adored and loved by anyone that knew her. Gladys is survived by her daughters, Leslie Griner of Clarksville, TN and Wendy Maus of Port Charlotte, FL; her son, David Maus of Largo, FL; her daughter-in-law, Karen Maus of Fayetteville, AR; her sister, Esther Margaret Hoffman of Placerville, CA; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Warren Maus; son, Edgar Warren Maus Jr.; sister, Donna Mandrigus; and son-in-law, Terry K. Griner. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Restlawn Memorial Garden in Port Charlotte.
