Lavelle Julane Olsen

Lavelle Julane Olsen, age 76, of Port Charlotte, FL formerly of Sioux City, Iowa, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 24, 2014at Bayfront Heart Center in Port Charlotte, Florida. She was born to Louis and Reah Rust of Worthington, Minnesota on February 5, 1938. She graduated from Worthington High School in 1955, and attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She married AC Gerald Martin Olsen in 1957, and lived in Slayton, Minnesota, where he taught high school until 1961. They moved to Sioux City, Iowa, where her husband taught English and German at Central and East High Schools. Lavelle worked as a bookkeeper/accountant at Bellas Hess and JC Penney's Department stores. In 1994, they moved to Port Charlotte, Florida to join their daughter, Lori Olsen King. Surviving her are her husband of 57 years, AC Olsen, her daughter and husband, Lori and Glenn; two grandchildren Jacqueline and Alexander. She lost her son Jay Christopher in a drowning accident, when he was 15 years old. Lavelle was strong in her faith in God. She was a devoted Bible study and Circle member. She loved to sing, and took professional voice lessons. She sang in the Women's Chorus in Sioux City, Iowa. She was a frequent soloist at churches as well. Her family and friends will always remember her generosity and willingness to listen to any problem or concern. She loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. Family will receive friends on Friday, August 29, 2014 from the hours of 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Port Charlotte, 2230 Harriet Street, Pt Charlotte, Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 AM with Pastor Donald Buck Officiating.
