Steven Wayne Beaver

Steven Wayne Beaver, 72, of Puyallup died on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the Franciscan Hospice House in University Place , Washington. Steve was born February 25, 1945 in Denver Colorado to Wayne and Mary (O’Rourke) Beaver. At six months of age Steve and his family moved to Dayton Washington. He enjoyed living in the country on a sheep ranch and appreciated all of the joys country life can bring. At the age of 12 Steve and his family moved to Sunnyside Washington and he thought he had made it to the” big city.” Steve made many lifelong friends during these years and he cherished these friendships all of his life. Steve enjoyed summers spent in Pilot Rock and Coos Bay Oregon and Chinook Washington where his dad worked in construction. Steve graduated from Sunnyside High School in Sunnyside Washington in 1963, where he was an outstanding wrestler. Steve completed a course of study in the Grandview School District, Lower Yakima Valley Auto Mechanics in Grandview Washington in 1966. Steve was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard of Washington in 1972. Steve worked cutting asparagus while in high school, at a grocery store, at a fruit processing plant, and owned two Chevron service stations, one in Sunnyside and one in Grandview. Steve worked at the Labor and Industries Rehabilitation Center in Seattle where he worked with injured workers in the wood shop. This was one of his favorite jobs. Steve was an auto mechanic and he also owned an auto repair shop, sold cars, and sold Cornwell tools. Steve enjoyed gardening and landscaping, cooking and baking (especially pies!), working on cars and helping others work on their cars, and woodworking. Steve enjoyed many vacations to our various National Parks and a cruise through the Panama Canal was a highlight. Steve had strong opinions on various topics and enjoyed sharing them with others. Steve had an unshakable faith in God and was a member of the Puyallup Seventh Day Adventist Church. Steve faced numerous health challenges during his lifetime and handled them with courage and bravery until cancer finally took him from us. During the past several months Steve greatly appreciated the help he received from family and friends, including keeping his yard looking beautiful so he did not have to watch it go downhill after it became too difficult for him to care for. Steve is survived by his wife of 35 years, Wendy, three daughters, Debbie (Kenny) Kenyon, Kim Beaver (Kevin Johnsted,) and Tonya Beaver. Steve has four grand children, Shannon (Sean) Ryan, Brittany Kenyon, Zachary Kenyon, and Siri Johnsted (Jason Pearlman). Steve has six great grandchildren, Kenleigh Nickell, Lane Ryan, Jaxx Ryan, Kayleen Kenyon, Kellen Lester and Scarlett Pearlman. Steve has one sister, Therese (JT) Moore, a niece Gina (Jack) Godsey, and a nephew Tony (Lori) Moore. Steve has two sisters-in-law, Claudia (Roy) Beard and Judy Peterson (Jay Lelli.) Steve has many aunts, uncles and cousins he was close to. A memorial service and celebration of life for Steve will be held Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Edwards Memorial Chapel 11020 S. Tacoma Way, Lakewood Washington 98499 at 2pm, with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Franciscan Hospice House 2901 Bridgeport Way West, University Place, Washington 98466 where Steve was cared for with kindness and compassion during his final hours on August 22, 2017 or to a charity of your choosing.
