Rena Karsunky passed away February 5, 2016 in Centralia, Washington. She was born March 25, 1948 to Myron and Bernice Davis in Kansas City, Missouri. She grew up and attended school in Olympia, Washington. Over the years, she also lived in Sacramento and San Jose, California; Anchorage, Alaska; Pe Ell, South Bend, and Rochester, Washington, her home the past five years. Rena attended William Winlock Miller High School in Olympia (1963-1966, accounting, secretarial), Centralia Junior College (1969, liberal arts), Seattle Community College (1969-1971, business and accounting), University of Washington (1972, business and accounting), and South Puget Sound Community College (1988, foster parent scope). Rena’s jobs included secretary at Green Hill in Centralia (1996-2000), secretary for Maple Lane in Rochester (1990-1996), program assistant at Community Action Council Partnership for Family Change in Lacey (1987-1990); bookkeeper/statistician at Washington Savings League in Olympia (1981-1986); salesperson/secretary at Duncan Hudgins & Associates in Olympia (1980-1981); salesperson/secretary at Ron Nelson Insurance in Tumwater (1979-1980); secretary at Association of Washington Businesses in Olympia (1977-1979); insurance secretary/salesperson at Charlie’s Home Center in Tumwater (1976); clerk typist at State of Washington Insurance Commissioner in Olympia (1975); executive secretary at Guardian Life Insurance Company in Santa Clara, California (1974); manager at Beverly Financial Services in Santa Clara, California (1974); executive secretary at Coordinated Financial Concepts, San Jose, California (1973); secretary at General Electric Company, San Jose, California (1972); payroll clerk/accounting assistant at J.B. Warrack Construction Company, Seattle; typist/payroll clerk at earl L. Sommerfield CPA (1969); clerk typist at State of Washington Department of Agriculture in Olympia (1968); and policy typist at P.J. Perry and Company in Seattle (1967-1968). Rena was a very independent woman who enjoyed living her life her own way. She was extremely intelligent, charismatic, and never knew a stranger. She enjoyed fishing, floating the rivers, swimming, gardening, pinochle, bunco, fixing up homes, traveling, watching football, and going to garage sales. She loved her family and friends and was always on the go. She enjoyed volunteering and was president and treasurer of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, Alpha Chi Chapter, volunteer chairman of Michael T. Simmons Grade School; and member of VFW Ladies and Eagles Auxiliaries. Rena is survived by her daughter, Danette Jones; three grandchildren; brother, Robert Davis; and father, Myron Davis. She was predeceased by her mother, Bernice Davis.
