Jack Eric Shearer

Jack Eric Shearer, 87, passed away July 16, 2016 in Olympia, WA. He was born January 6, 1929 to R. Noble and Joy (Nies) Shearer in Holland, MI. Jack was a resident of Lacey, WA for 16 years, and also lived in Sammamish, WA (1965-2000). Jack graduated from Hillsboro High School, Hillsboro, OR in 1947, and earned a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1951 from Oregon State College. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War (1951-1953) as a radar maintenance officer. He married Ruth Whisler on December 29, 1951 at First Christian Church of Vancouver, WA. He worked at Boeing from 1951 to 1988. Jack was always happy and friendly, loved all of his family and was known as a great story teller. He had a wonderful tenor voice and enjoyed singing in church choirs. He also enjoyed gardening, camping, and playing cribbage. He was a member of the Pine Lake Presbyterian Church, Beaver Lake Community Club, and United Churches of Olympia. Jack is survived by his wife, Ruth W. Shearer of Lacey; sons, Dan Shearer of Oklahoma City, OK, Don Shearer of Long Beach, California and Jim Shearer of Renton, WA; daughter, Alice Lanning of Chehalis, WA; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and four brothers. Memorial donations may be made to New Generation Haiti (an orphanage), PO Box 42, Lynden, WA 98264.
