Scott Junior Sutherland
April 27th, 1931 - August 21st, 2013
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. II Timothy 4:7-8 Scott Junior Sutherland, Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning (August 21, 2013) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born in Russell County, VA but had lived the majority of his life in Kingsport. Brother Sutherland preached throughout this area as an evangelist for many years until declining health prevented him continuing. He was a self-employed contractor for over 40 years. Mr. Sutherland was preceded in death by his parents, Aven and Ollie Sutherland along with his five sisters and one brother. Scott Sutherland is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Eva Jean Sutherland; his daughter, Debbie Morelock; sons, Gary Sutherland, Terry Sutherland, and Tim Sutherland (all of Kingsport, TN); his grandchildren, Chris Overbay and wife, Tonya, Brandon Sutherland and wife, Jessica, Daniel Sutherland and wife, Mandie, India Sutherland, Brittany Sutherland, Sarah Sutherland, and Caleb Sutherland; six great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted on Friday (August 23, 2013) at 3 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Kelvin Bishop, officiating.
