Isabel Loomis Sancho Castro April 23, 1930 - San Jose, Costa Rica December 25, 2020 - Edmonds, Washington 90 Glorious Years Isabel Loomis Sancho Castro passed away on December 25, 2020 at her home in Edmonds Washington. She was 90 years old and was surrounded by her loving family.  Isabel (Abuelita, Mamasita, Isa) was born in Costa Rica on April 23, 1930 to Betulio and Merida Sancho.  She had three older siblings, Virginia, Mario and Alvaro and one younger sister Maria Elena. Isabel met her beloved husband, Ralph A. Loomis, in Costa Rica when she was working as the head of the foreign trade and statistics department. They were married in Costa Rica on July 4, 1953. They promptly moved to Quincy, Washington where they began their married lives as potato farmers, which lasted all of one year. They moved to Seattle the following year, where Ralph continued his education at the University of Washington. Ralph and Isabel relocated several times due to continuing education and employment opportunities until they settled in Pullman Washington in 1966 where they raised their six children. In 1994, Isa and Ralph retired to her native home in Costa Rica, where they lived for the next 17 years. In 2011, they moved back up to Edmonds, Washington to be nearer to their children and grandchildren.  Ralph died in 2014 after a 2 year battle with tonsillar cancer. During her life, Isabel raised their six children and was very active in her church. Her relationship with Jesus was the most important thing in her life. Her love and her actions flowed from a deep and personal commitment to Him. By word and by deed, Isabel was a living testament of God's Love and Grace. Her children fondly remember their mother's kindness to everyone she met. Strangers soon became friends. It was common practice for her to bring friends home, both old and new, to share a meal with the family. Isabel will always be remembered as a faithful and loving servant of her Lord and Savior. It is somehow fitting that Isabel left us for her heavenly home on the day we celebrate her Savior's birth. Isabel is survived by her brother, Mario Sancho of Costa Rica, sister Maria Elena Sancho of Costa Rica, daughter Cindy (Paul) Nutting of Olympia, WA, son Kevin (Meridith) Loomis of Wenatchee, WA, son Scott (Stephanie) Loomis of Everett, WA, daughter Annette (Eugene) Doolan of Ireland, son Greg (Lisa) Loomis of East Wenatchee, WA, daughter Maria (Doug) Dreher of Edmonds, WA, 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. In June of 2020, Isabel was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The family spent the last 6 months celebrating her life.  It was her wish that her passing is seen as a home coming, an opportunity to celebrate all life and to praise the Lord for the gifts he has given all of us. The family had a private service on December 31, 2020 at Tahoma National Cemetery where she is interned next to her beloved husband Ralph. Well done faithful servant of Jesus.   Please post memories or photos you would like to share online at Isabel Sancho Loomis Obituary (click "Share a memory")
