Jeffrey Allen Layne
July 20th, 1972 - December 21st, 2021
Mr. Jeffrey A. Layne, 49, of Mountlake Terrace, WA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Cherry Hill Swedish Hospital in Seattle, after a short courageous battle with stage IV colon cancer that had metastasized to his liver, brain and spine. He will be dearly missed. He was born July 20, 1972, in Yakima, to Joe and Tracy Layne. The Layne family moved to Alderwood Manor when he was 6 years old. He graduated from Lynnwood High school in 1990. He furthered his education at Edmonds Community College & received his degree from University of Phoenix. He married Lisa Higbee on May 24, 1997, in Seattle. He had two sons, Jason Layne of Everett and Garrett Layne of Mountlake Terrace. Jeff loved sports and people. He was passionate about baseball and Nascar. He coached baseball for seventeen years for both of his sons as they grew from t-ball through middle school. He continued to be involved when they played high school sports cheering them on from the sidelines and keeping stats. He taught more than just how to play baseball – he valued good sportsmanship and was a strong, positive influence on all the young men he worked with, many of whom have become extended family. Jeff just celebrated his 23rd year at Boeing. A mentor to many and a friend to all. He was a natural leader and enjoyed helping others achieve their goals. His personality was endearing, he was quick witted, kind, jovial and never without a smile. Survivors include his parents, Joe & Tracy Layne of Marysville; wife Lisa Layne; sons Jason Layne & fiancé Lauren Pauley of Everett, and Garrett Layne of Mountlake Terrace; Grandfather and Grandmother James & Adeline Dover of Yakima; his Aunts & Uncles: Arlene & Jerry Halsen, Donna & Mike Verd, Lila & Dave Johnson, Deena & Mike Gregory; and cousins: David Halsen, Jerry Halsen, Greg Halsen, David Johnson, Wendy Johnson, Lee Johnson, Mark Johnson, Aimee Aguirre, and Michelle Verd; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Grandparents Shirley & Lee Johnson, Grandmother Ardell Dover, Uncle Lee Johnson and Aunt Darlene Bransford. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on January 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 22015 48th Ave W, Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043.
