John (Jack) O’Connell, age 81 of Venice, Florida, went to be with Jesus in his eternal home on May 10, 2016. Jack is survived by his wife Mary, the love of his life and best friend for over 60 years. Devoted father of Maryellen Ramsey, Christine Arnold (Bruce), John O’Connell and Michael O’Connell (Pamela). Loving grandfather of Elijah and Joshua Arnold and Sullivan Anne and Olive Mary O’Connell. Jack is also survived by his sister Kathleen McCall and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by his brother Richard O’Connell, sister Mary Olson and son-in-law David Ramsey. Jack was born on May 29, 1934 in New York City to John and Catherine O’Connell. He proudly served his country in the Army and retired after 30 years with General Motors. His many charitable contributions include volunteering for Meals on Wheels, the American Cancer Society and served as Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00a.
