Frankfort, KY Johnson, Don Carlos, 88, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016. He was born in Louisville, KY on July 10, 1927 to the late George and Dallas Elkins Johnson. In addition to his wife, Elizabeth Ann Miller Johnson, Don is survived by a daughter, Susan (Laney) Akers, Lawrenceburg, son Philip (Connie) Johnson, Frankfort, sister Rachel Bradley, Winchester, grandchildren; Monica, Jessica, Roxayn, Micah, Forrest, and Rebekah, 10 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Howard Johnson, granddaughter Elizabeth Irene Akers, and grandson Clinton Nathaniel Johnson. During World War II he served as a paratrooper in the US Army. For 33 years, Don and his wife Elizabeth owned the Paul Sawyier Art Gallery on Versailles Rd in Frankfort. In 1965, he and his brother David co-founded the Bluegrass Power Squadron, serving as President and class instructor. He left his family a legacy of love, security, and many fond memories of travel, celebrations and lazy days on the Kentucky River. Funeral Information A private family service will be held at a later date.
