Online Obituaries for Versailles KY VERSAILLES- Charles W. Carl, 82, husband of Ann J. Carl, died Monday, April 21, 2014. A native of Versailles, he was born on February 25, 1932 to the late Charles and Thelma Furnish Carl. Mr. Carl was a farmer and a Veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during 1951-1955 as an Instrument Specialist with the Strategic Air Command during the Korean War and Cold War with Russia. He was also a retired employee of Jim Beam Distillery, spent several years working at Keeneland and a member of the American Legion Post #67. Mr. Carl attended Southland Christian Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Lucy A. (John) Cain and Lori J. Carl, both of Versailles; his step-children, Stephen Lee (Dena) McNabb, Lawrenceburg, Billie Mohammed, Lexington and Pamela McNabb, Versailles; his grandchildren, Michael (Sarah) Cain, and Emily (Justin) Woodside; his step-grandchildren, Emily McNabb (Dustan) Drury, Andrew McNabb, Emilie McNabb, Patrick (Sarah) Sea, James Tyler Rodgers, Alisha Shae White, Teresa Mohammed (Rufus) Washington, Tina Hersel, and Jamal Mohammed; his great grandchildren, Malakai Cain, Avery Woodside, Ava Cain, Lilly Cain and Carlee-Ann Woodside; his step-great grandchildren, Ashton Drury, Elliot Sea, Layla White, Sapphire Washington, Nula Washington, Gabe Washington and Jonah Hersel; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanne Brannon Carl; his brother, Jerry Carl; and his sisters, Jeanine Stickle and Wanda Clem. Funeral Information Funeral Services will be 1:00pm Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill will Rev. Rick Ralston and Luther M. Cain officiating. Burial will follow in Versailles Cemetery. Meal provided for family immediately after burial at New Hope Baptist Church on Tyrone Pike. Serving as casketbearers will be James Tyler Rodgers, Jamal Mohammed, Stephen Lee McNabb, John Cain, Justin Woodside, Josh Slugantz (standing in for Michael Cain, his deployed grandson in Afghanistan), John Dragoo, and Loren "Squirrel" Carl. Honorary casketbearers are Andrew Hersel, Rufus Washington, Doug Watson, Ron McEwan, Steve Schenck, Paul West, Henry Carl, Dale Ladnier, Joe Karsner, David Ladnier, Ryan Gold, William Carl, Bobby Carl, Ernest Carl Jr., Greg Carl and Mark Gormley. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 23, from 5-8pm at the funeral home.
