Online Obituaries for Frankfort KY Richard Joseph Maines, 53, of Frankfort, Kentucky, passed away on September 17, 2017 peacefully in his sleep while surrounded by family and friends. Per his final wishes, he will be cremated as were his father, mother and younger brother. He had requested to have his ashes disburse and combined with the planting of a tree at the home of his life-long friend Helen Cartwright Maines. Rick was born in Winchester, Kentucky on June 28, 1964. He graduated from Tates Creek High School and continued his education at Fugazzi College in Lexington, Kentucky were he acquired his passion for computers and computer programming. Rick was married to Helen Cartwright Maines on July 10, 1999. Their son, Alex was born on January 18, 2000. Rick spent the majority of his life dealing with computers and programming, working with companies like Papa John's and First Security (Chase Bank). He enjoyed singing, UK Basketball and spending time with his family. Rick is survived by his three children, Joshua Maines, Alex Maines and Katie Mitchell. His remaining family also includes his sisters, Angela and Teresa and his brother Darrell. His extended family includes a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph M. Maines (2009) and Barbara Jean Maines (2010); as well as his brother, Keith E. Maines (2011). The family of Rick Maines wishes to thank the Bluegrass Care Navigators and Frankfort Regional Medical Center for their constant and compassionate care for their loved one. Funeral Information Services will be held at a later date.
