Versailles Gene E. Goodrich, 77, of Shelbyville and formerly of Millville, husband of Martha Roberts Goodrich, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014. He was born in Woodford County on March 19, 1936 to the late Oscar Willis and Jennie Hippe Goodrich. He retired from National Distillery and Jim Beam after 43 years as a truck driver. In addition to his wife, Mr. Goodrich is survived by his daughter, Lisa Goodrich; his son, Steven Goodrich, both of Woodford County; his step-sons, Dean Thornton of Shelby County and Danny Thornton of Owen County; his brother, Bobby Goodrich of Versailles; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Phyllis Goodrich; his daughter, Connie Goodrich; his sisters, Sara Lancaster, Jenny Conway, Margie Carter, Louise Nolan, Jo Ann Lewis and Dorothy Jacobs; and his brothers, Charles Goodrich, Wallace Goodrich and Oscar Goodrich. Funeral Information Services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd. with Bro. Chuck Umholtz officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pall bearers will be Chris Mitchell, Daniel Goodrich, Travis Goodrich, Marty Gilkison, Bryan Johnson and Rommy Rankin. Honorary pall bearers will be Bill Cornish, Phillip Long, Bob Stewart, Gene Mitchell, Jerry Smith, David Smith, Sidney Adams and Frank Stewart. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
