Devoted husband, father grandfather and friend, Kim Blunt passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on November 22, 2010. Born on July 2, 1932 in Glendale, CA, Kim spent most of his childhood growing up in Seattle graduating from Roosevelt H.S. He went on to attend the University of Washington as a member of the Theta Xi Fraternity and Captain of the UW Golf Team. It was there Kim met the love of his life, Sharon Bargreen. In 1954 he graduated from UW with a degree in Communications and married Sharon. Kim began his career as a disc jockey at KRKO radio in Everett, which he loved, and soon after joined the U.S. Air Force and became a fighter pilot, with Kim and Sharon traveling throughout the U.S. with the military. Kim joined the family business in 1958 and managed/owned Crown Distributing for over 40 years as well as Friendly Distributors where he was a compassionate yet strong leader at both companies.Kim and Sharon were blessed with and are survived by their five children: Kim (Larry) Larsen, Greg (Jill) Blunt, Melissa Stephanson, Gigi (Cory) Burke, and Bob Blunt; grand children: Chris, (Lindsay) Larsen, Daniel, Mitchell, and Stacie Larsen; Jessie, Meagan, and Molly Stephanson; Emily and Sam Burke; and Kaullen Blunt. He adored his children and grandchildren and they all enjoyed special times at Lake Stevens, Palm Springs, Hawaii and especially the holidays that he so loved celebrating. Kim and Sharons Christmas Eve parties at their home were legendary around Everett. Summers were spent at their home on Lake Stevens where the Barbeque was going almost every night entertaining friends and family. He was an avid golfer and spent many cherished hours on the links of EGCC with his friends. Kim enjoyed bird hunting, salmon fishing, and razor clam digging. Kim and Sharon spent their entire 53 years of marriage raising their family in Everett and were deeply involved with friends, family and many civic affairs. After Kim retired, he and Sharon spent their winters at 7 Lakes C.C. in Palm Springs.Kim was preceded in death by his soul mate and wife, Sharon (1/12/2008); mother, Jessie Blunt; stepfather, Joe Blunt; and brothers, Larry and Dick Blunt. In addition to his children and grandchildren, Kim is survived by his brother Dave (Betty) Blunt, Mother-in-law Grace Bargreen Parsons (Edgar); brother-in-law Howie (Melinda) Bargreen; sister-in-law Carol (Cliff) Coomes and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Kim loved his community and served in many organizations including Everett Rotary, Providence Hospital Foundation (Founder, treasurer 10 years, presidyears): First Presbyterian Church, Founding board member of Coastal Community Bank, Everett Community College Foundation, Sertoma (Preside992-93), Elks, Eagles, American Legion, Moose, Everett Golf and Country Club, and the Providence Hospital Community Board. He also received several awards for his service including: YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, Boy Scouts, PTSA Golden Acorn, Muscular Dystrophy, ECC Foundation, Volunteers of America, Assistance League, American Red Cross, Kidney Association of Puget Sound, and the Service to Mankind Award-Sertoma. He loved helping others, and hated being honored unless it encouraged others to also reach out and help, but his favorite award was being Grand Marshall of the 2007 Everett Fourth of July Parade. Our family would like to thank all of Kims care providers who cared deeply for him in his home, the Puget Sound Kidney Center, and Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. A special thanks to all of our friends and family who have reached out to us during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Puget Sound Kidney Centers, the Everett Community College Foundation or the Providence General Foundation.
