Lois Anne Oswald
October 7th, 1933 - October 27th, 2015
Lois (Hugg) Oswald, on October 27, 2015 passed to be with her Lord Jesus, her beloved husband, Jim Oswald, and sons, John, Timothy and Steven. She is predeceased by her mother and father, Francis and Helen Hugg. Survived by sisters, Nancy (Tom) Murphy of Venice, FL and Carol (Stuart) Pease of Punta Gorda, FL and several nephews and nieces. (list?) Lois was born and raised in Elmira Heights, NY, where she graduated from Edison HS as Salutatorian. She was awarded the Elmira College Key Scholarship, where she attended. She was baptized at Riverside Methodist Church in Elmira, NY, and was a communicant of Oakwood Methodist Church. She converted to the Roman Catholic Church at St. Mary our Mother Church in Horseheads, NY, in 1970. When Lois married Jim she moved to Beaverton, OR, where she lived for forty years. She was active at Holy Spirit Church where she served as Sacristan, Eucharistic Minister both at Mass and for the homebound, choir member, lector. Lois was a Daily Mass communicant. She loved to dance as well as sing, and was an avid camper. She and Jim enjoyed square dancing and joining their square dancing “Rolling Squares” friends in a caravan of campers visiting throughout the west. Lois came to live in Venice, FL in 2010, where she became a member at Epiphany Cathedral, again serving as Eucharistic minister for the homebound, choir member, and lector. She was the roster scheduler for daily readers, was a member of Epiphany’s CCW and Emmaus, and always served where she saw a need. You are not forgotten . . nor will you ever be. As long as life and memory last, we will remember thee. We miss you now, our hearts are sore. . . As time goes by we’ll miss you more. Your loving smile, your gentle face . . . No one can fill your vacant space. Lois’ Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 7, at 10 a.m. at Epiphany Cathedral. Farley Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.
