Online Obituaries for Lexington Gary "Allen" Smith passed awayThursday, July 7, 2016, at his Lexington, Ky., home after a brief bout with lung cancer. Born in Chattanooga, TN, January 5, 1944, Allen was the son of the late Louise White Smith and Arthur Dewey Smith Jr. He was 72 years old. Allen owned Lexington's Airport Motel and FoodMart on Versailles Road from 1972 until the early 1990s. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and a faithful member of the choir for 32 years. He is survived by his nephew Chris Smith of Kennesaw Ga.; grand nieces Amanda (Smith) McCarty; Lauren, Sara and Emily Smith and grand nephew Jacob Smith. Funeral Information Services will be held 7:30 pm EDT Saturday, July 16 in the First Presbyterian Church Chapel conducted by Rev. Mark Davis. A reception will follow in the Assembly Room.
