Maribeth Phair
July 19th, 1949 - September 13th, 2011
Maribeth Phair passed away Tuesday, September 13 after a brief illness. She was born in New York City on July 19, 1949. Growing up in a military family, she lived throughout the country until college when she settled in Washington. She attended Seattle University where she earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees plus her teaching and administrator certification. A devoted and much loved educator, she specialized in special education and taught over 30 years in the Seattle School District at Viewlands Elementary, Denny Middle School and as Principal at Bagley Elementary. Maribeth was extremely committed to her faith serving as a teacher, scouting counselor, lector, sacristan, and ministry in St. Luke, St. Brendan, and Blessed Teresa parishes. With no children of her own, she dedicated her time to helping others. An enthusiastic sor player, she coached numerous girls sor teams and served as a referee. She loved animals and acted as a foster parent for many shelter dogs and cats. She and her dog Ronan visited hospitals, retirement homes, and schools in addition to participating in the Reading with Rover program. Her service to the community includes volunteering at St. Martin de Pour and making hundreds of layette sets for donation to new mothers. Maribeth is survived by her sister, Michele, and brothers James, Joseph, and Patrick and her 16 devoted nieces and nephews. Announcement: In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to St. Vincent de Paul, PO Box 705, Woodinville, WA 98072.
