Paul Vincent Martinis
September 26th, 1925 - June 12th, 2016
Paul Vincent Martinis was born September 26, 1925, in Everett, Washington, and passed away in Edmonds on June 12, 2016. He was the older of two children and was very close with his younger sister Winifred. He attended Immaculate Concn School, and graduated from Everett High School. He then moved to Seattle and attended Seattle College and University of Washington, pursuing an architectural degree. During the 1950s Paul built houses in both North Everett and the Innis Arden area of Seattle. During this same period of time, he purchased neglected apartment buildings in the Seattle area to remodel, and then managed them. He particularly enjoyed the Arts and attended the ballet, opera, and symphony regularly. He was an avid reader and had an extensive book collection. Travelling to various countries was one of his passions, and he especially enjoyed going to museums on his travels. Gardening was another favorite pastime. Up until just recently, Paul truly enjoyed and was able to take long walks up the hills of Seattle. Even at 90 years old, he loved driving his Lincoln. Spending time with his sister Winifred and her family on most holidays was a real highlight in his life. In his earlier years, we remember many wonde Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners prepared by Paul in the kitchen of his home in Seattle. He was a very important part of our lives.Paul was preceded in death by his father Vincent Martinis, his mother Antionette Pasalich Martinis (both of Everett, WA and both immigrants from Komiza, on the Island of Vis, in Croatia), and his sister Winifred Rose Martinis, also of Everett. He is survived by his nephew Vincent (Sue) Soriano and grandnephew Matthew Soriano, all living in Honolulu, HI; his niece Janet Soriano, of Everett, WA; his niece Lisa Soriano, of Tulalip, WA; his brother-in-law Dominic Soriano, of Everett; and special cousins Berrie Martinis of Edmonds, Barb Piercy and Paul Martinis, both of Everett, Andrea Bradshaw, and many more. Paul spent his last days at Prestige of Edmonds in a very peaceful setting surrounded by many close family members and friends who dearly loved him. He will truly be missed by all. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on June 24, 2016, at Becks Funeral Home, 405 5th Ave S. Edmonds, WA 98020.
