Chester Nowak
October 29th, 1923 - March 23rd, 2015
Chester L. Nowak of Venice, an Air Force Pilot and Sales Engineer prior to retirement and resident of the area since 1988 from Colorado, died Monday, March 23, 2015. He was 91. MAJ (Ret) Nowak was born October 29, 1923, in Lackawanna, New York, and came to Venice from Denver, Colorado, where he was a Sales Engineer after serving in the Army and AF for over 23 years. He was mobilized with New York National Guard in 1940. Graduating from flight training in 1944 he went on to accumulate over 4000 flight hours. He flew over 100 hours in support of the Berlin Airlift in 1948. While a member of the Venice Golf and Country Club he enjoyed his many rounds golf and his weekly card games. He leaves his two sons Michael (Patty) of San Antonio, Texas, Richard (Susan) of Temecula, California: a daughter, Susan Matthews (Ken) of Osprey, Florida: six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers please make donations to TideWell Hospice of Sarasota.
