Otis C. Hume
March 10th, 1918 - January 16th, 2014
Lexington, KY Otis C. Hume, 95, died January 16, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Martha Irene Rowland Hume; his daughter Janet Hume Cox; his niece Betty Witt of Paris , KY and several great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents David and Myrtle (Wood) Hume and his daughter Joie Hume. Otis and Irene have lived in their current residence in the south end of Lexington for 60 years. He was a proud member of General Patton's 3rd Army during WWII and participated in the D-Day invasion and in the liberation of Europe. He was a member of Trinity Hill United Methodist Church and was a former Elder and Deacon at Eastminister Presbyterian Church. He was the owner of Hume Grocery in Lexington and later owned the former Convenient Food Mart In Paris, KY. Otis found pleasure in gardening, but his home was a tribute to his love of the outdoors. In recent years, Otis could be spotted roaming the Southland area and visiting the Farmer's Market with his little dog Cricket in tow. Otis will be greatly missed by his many faithful friends. Funeral Information There will be a memorial service at 11 AM, Saturday, February 8th, 2014 at Trinity Hill United Methodist Church, with Pastor Steve Drury.
