Jere Wilkins Wilford

Jere Wilkins Wilford, 86, of Venice, FL passed away December 16, 2014. Jere was born October 6, 1928 in McCamey, TX to Mildred (Levine) and Jere Wilkins Wilford. He graduated from Monmouth College in 1950 with a bachelors' degree in Mathematics and enlisted in the Army. He served in the Korean War between 1952-53 and was awarded the Bronze Star. After his honorable discharge, he graduated from the University of Illinois in 1956 with a bachelors' degree in Civil Engineering. He worked as a Civil Engineer for US Army Corps of Engineers and retired in 1986. His retirement was spent playing golf with friends and making custom golf clubs. He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn (Dingman). Survivors include his daughters; Ellen Wilford of Sarasota, FL, Nancy (Wilford) and Duane Wishmeyer of Highlands Ranch, CO, and Karen Wilford of Las Vegas, NV. He was the proud grandpa to Katherine and Jared Wishmeyer of Highlands Ranch, CO. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, December 22 at Sarasota National Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2970 University Parkway Suite 104, Sarasota, FL 34243.
