Frank Nicholas Rocco
May 31st, 1928 - April 30th, 2017
Frank Nicholas Rocco was born May 31, 1928 in Hackensack, New Jersey, and passed away peacefully with Valerie by his side on April 30, 2017, in Mountlake Terrace, Washington. He was 88 years young.Frank was a good man. He loved all animals, gardening, golf, skiing, fishing, music, and especially loved having family over for his annual outdoor birthday celebration on Memorial Day weekend. He made friends everywhere he went and was loved by many.Frank was in the Wholesale and Retail meat business his whole life. In the 1970s, he and his longtime friend and partner, Richard Berkenroth, opened Red Tree Packing Company in Seattle. In the late 1980s they sold the company and retired.Frank was a member of Holy Rosary Parish for 57 years. He was a member of the Lake City Elks for over 50 years. He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Dix, New Jersey during the Korean conflict. He was a Cub Scout leader and an Indian scout leader when his children were young, and volunteered with the boy scouts.Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lena Rocco, his older sister, Millie, who passed away when he was two years old, and two of his younger sisters, Diana Russo and Rose Marie Riedel. Frank is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Valerie, his children Janet Simmons (Gary), John Rocco (Cynthia), Frank M. Rocco, and David Rocco, two younger sisters Lucille Bischoff of Old Tappan, New Jersey, and Linda Sumner of Toms River, New Jersey, his grandchildren Russell Swanson, Tamsin Bergman, Jonathon Simmons, Zachary Simmons, Sylas Rocco, and Elizabeth De Leuw, his great grandchildren Frank Simmons, Zachary Simmons, Anthony Simmons, Colten Bergman, Payton Simmons, Abigail Simmons, Marcus Rocco, Sylas Rocco, Jr., and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.Frank was loved deeply by family and friends alike. His passing is a profound loss to this world. Funeral services will be held at Becks Funeral Home in Edmonds, 9:00 am Saturday, May 6, 2017.
