M. Bradford "Buzz" Hall
September 19th, 1932 - May 15th, 2014
M. Bradford ""Buzz"" Hall, 81 of Venice, Florida and Stanley Bridge, Prince Edward Island, Canada went to heaven on May 15th, 2014. He was born in Livermore Falls, Maine on September 19th, 1932 to Jonathon Moody Hall and Hazel Louise (Emerson) Hall. He graduated from Livermore Falls High School in Livermore Falls, Maine and the University of Maine in 1954 with a degree in Engineering Physics. Buzz was also a brother in the Delta Tau Delta fraternity at the university and played trumpet in the band. Upon his graduation from the ROTC program at the University of Maine in 1954 he was a second-lieutenant in the Army for two years based at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. He married Eleanor Jean Turner, from Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada on October 22nd, 1955 in El Paso, Texas whom he met at the University of Maine. Following her death on June 16th, 1999 after 44 wonderful years of marriage and three children, Buzz married Lois Jean (Eastman) Barrett in Hudson, New Hampshire on December 5th, 2000. Buzz had a long and successful 28-year career for Nashua Corporation in Nashua, New Hampshire. As the Director of Central Engineering he led work on the development, commercialization and licensing of carbonless paper technology around the world. With CEO, Bill Conway, Buzz led some of the first projects with Dr. W. Edwards Deming on statistical process control. The story of this pioneering work was featured in the NBC White Paper If Japan Can Why Can't We?. Buzz later presented a paper on his work with Dr. Deming at the Instrument Society of America (ISA) conference. He was also involved in TAPPI, the professional organization dedicated to the pulp and paper industry. With great passion and joy Buzz played the trumpet with the Presumpscot River Bottom Boys, a Dixieland Jazz Band for over 50 years. The band was originally formed with the friends and co-workers of the research lab at S.D. Warren, Co. in Westbrook, Maine. The PRBBs played across Maine, Canada and Europe. They recorded two albums, On a Continental Cakewalk and In August Body Assembled. Buzz was a man of tremendous Christian faith and for 28 years served at the Church of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal), Nashua, New Hampshire on the Vestry, choir and as a lay-reader. The church was a central and very important part of his life and his families. During his working years he was always ready to serve as needed including playing in the American Legion Band, Hudson, New Hampshire and as a parent volunteer/leader with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts He also belonged and served the Sahib Shriners in Sarasota Florida and played in the Shrine band in parades and concerts. Buzz loved traveling; he went on over 40 cruises all over the world. He was also an avid New England Patriots fan where he had season tickets for many years and attended three of their Super Bowls. He is pre-deceased by his wife Eleanor Jean (Turner) Hall, his parents Hazel Louise (Emerson) Hall and Jonathon Moody Hall of Fryeburg, Maine, and a brother-in-law Red Stickland of Port Richey, Florida. He is survived by his loving wife Lois Jean (Eastman) Hall, of Venice, Florida and Stanley Bridge, Prince Edward Island, Canada; his sister, Dorothy (Hall) Stickland of Port Richey, Florida; two sons, Douglas (Deborah) Hall of Cincinnati, Ohio and Bruce (Beth) Hall of Sugar Land, Texas; one daughter, Pamela (Mark) Twist of Belgrade, Maine; grand daughters Kristyn Hall of Washington, D.C., Tori Hall of Cincinnati, Ohio: and Jill Twist of Belgrade, Maine; grandsons Brad Hall of Cincinnati, Ohio, Matt Twist of Orono, Maine, Andrew Hall of Austin, Texas and Zachary Hall and Garrett Hall of Sugar Land, Texas; step-sons Jeff Barrett of Winchester, New Hampshire, Jim Barrett of Manchester, New Hampshire and one step-daughter, Janet (Barrett) Steeves of Milford, New Hampshire; ten step-grandchildren; and four step-great grandchildren. The funeral and burial is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., July 5, 2014 at St. Thomas Anglican Church, Springbrook, Prince Edward Island, Canada.
