Muriel V. Donahue of Venice, Florida died on April 24, 2014. She was born to Veronica and George Lawson in New Britain, Connecticut on July 5, 1922. Muriel lived in Venice for 12 years. She attended the Teachers College of Connecticut where she met her future husband, Edward F. Donahue on a blind date. She graduated with an R.N. degree from Grace Hospital in New Haven, CT. She served in the Cadet Nurses Corps during WWII. Muriel earned a M.A. degree from Montclair State College in New Jersey. She was a nurse/health teacher at Teaneck High School in Teaneck, NJ and Willard Elementary in Ridgewood, NJ. Muriel is predeceased by her husband Edward. Survivors include daughters Mary Ellen O'Rourke (Charles), Kathryn Connolly (John), and sons Fr. Michael Donahue and George Lawson Donahue (Karen Wright). She also leaves 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be celebrated by Muriel's son Fr. Michael Donahue of Tarija, Bolivia on July 21, 2014, 10:30 AM at Epiphany Cathedral in Venice. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Tidewell Hospice 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
