Jakob Marks was born in Crvenka, Yugoslavia on November 9, 1932. In 1944, he fled to Vienna, Austria with his family. He moved to Germany and resided there until 1957 at which time he moved to the Cleveland, Ohio area. Jakob moved to Florida in 1995 when retiring from his job of over 33 years of employment at the Avon and Westlake USG Plants. Jakob is survived by Lydia, his loving wife of 57 years; son, Harry (Robin); daughters, Esther Smith (Bill), Diane Wood (George), Carol Bivin (Ron); seven grandchildren, Kelly, Kristin, Justin, Jason, Scott, Brandon, Brooke and one great-granddaughter, Hannah. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00PM on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at First Baptist Church of North Port, 8000 Dorothy Avenue, North Port, Florida 34287. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church of North Port or to Tidewell Hospice of Port Charlotte. Farley Funeral Home in North Port is handling the arrangements.
