Hiram Bailey, Jr, 60, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018. Loving husband of 41 years to Ramona Atwell Bailey, he was born June 25, 1957 to the late Hiram and Rosemarie Todd Bailey, Sr. in Detroit, Michigan. Hiram was a special man, a good man, a charismatic man that could make anyone smile with a smirk, the shake of his head, and an “I love you, man.” He had a kind and compassionate heart, would help anyone in need. Nurses missed him, preachers blessed him, and the most serious of doctors softened for him. He enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, the ocean, and simply being with his family. Hiram was the most wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a highly intelligent person, capable of fixing almost anything, and a self-taught electrician who later became a successful master electrician, electrical contractor, and electrical engineer. Hiram was truly one of a kind, who will be deeply missed by many, and who possessed innumerable qualities, too many to mention in a single paragraph. In addition to his wife, Ramona, he is survived by his daughters, Amelia (Brenton) Meekins, Versailles and Krystal (Suzzy) Boyd, Versailles; sisters, Eva Bailey, Cynthiana, and Mari (Bryan) Burgess, Lexington; brother, Cecil (Trish) Bailey, Versailles; and grandchildren, Keziah Abrielle Meekins, Madison Paige Disney, and Xavier Timothy Disney; Joseph and Joan Atwell, Sr., who he regarded as his parents; brother-in-laws Master Sergeant Joseph Atwell, Jr., and David Atwell; Kayla Peach Atwell; nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday June 1, 2018 at North View Baptist Church, 1742 Bryan Station Rd, Lexington, KY 40505, officiated by Pastor Terry Z. Murphy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North View Baptist Church Youth Program.
