Louis Karibo, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday August 2, 2018 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He is survived by his wife of sixty two years, Ree Karibo, a sister, Mary Kenny, daughter Chris Corbin and son-in-law W.C. Corbin. Also surviving are his beloved grandchildren Leah vonTrout, Lane Milburn, Bo Milburn, Carlisle Cobb, great grandchild Tyson vonTrout and other family and friends. Lou was a proud alumna of Flaget High School and The University of Kentucky. While attending UK, Lou was a member of many campus organizations and sports teams. After graduation, Lou accepted a position coaching football under Paul “Bear” Bryant at UK and later, Texas A&M. His other professional accomplishments include: being International Training Director at Kentucky Fried Chicken, a founding member of Mr. Gatti’s Pizza, Commissioner of Parks for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, member of the Kentucky Parole Board, pilot in the U.S. Air Force, and high school teacher. Lou will be remembered for his kindness, work ethic and the love he possessed for his family, University and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Memorial Service will be Wednesday, August 8th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Clark Legacy Center on Brannon Rd. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the University of Kentucky K-Fund in his memory.
