Beloved son of Donna and Robert Horne Jr., Jason Lee Horne, 39 of Marysville, WA, passed away peacefully at Evergreen Hospital on September 12, 2011 with his parents Bob and Donna, sister Nicole Olson, her husband Darek, his Aunt Patty and Uncle Jerry Goodwill by his side. Jason Lee Horne was born in Everett, WA to Robert and Donna Horne on December 23, 1971. As his great grandmother Lovida used to tease him, You were this close to being Jesus! Great Grandma thought Jason was one special boy! Jason grew up in Lake Stevens, WA with a love of music and drama, which he pursed in high school by being a part of Lake Stevens Jubilation. For a brief time Jason was an explorer with the Lake Stevens Police Department. He decided that being a police officer wasnt quite his thing. He then pursued a career as a photographer. He opened his own studio for a time and then went to work for Sears Portrait Studio. Jason was known for his ability to photograph children. He was always called upon to handle the difficult cases. After working at Sears Jason once again made a career change. This time he truly found what he was called to do! Jason went to work in an adult family care home. He was known in the home for his caring and unselfish ways when dealing with his patients. Taking care of people was never a job to Jason, it was simply who he was. When Jason decided to get out of the care giving profession one of his long time patients, Ruthie, wouldnt let him go. She lived with Jason until his own illness prevented him from taking care of her. Jason was an active participant in the local gay rights community. He participated in marches, fund raisers and performed in shows. He believed quite strongly that everyone deserved to be treated equal, no matter of race, ethnicity or sexual orientation. No matter how busy Jason was, his family was always very important to him. Jason enjoyed spending time camping at the family property along the Skagit River. As a young boy Jason would spend endless hours riding his motor cycle and stirring up dust at the lot. If Jason wasnt camping at the lot he would hang out at his other favorite spot, the beach. Jason loved the sound of crashing waves and the smell of crisp sea air. Of all the beaches, Canon Beach along the northern Oregon coast was his favorite. He loved hanging out at the base of Haystack Rock. Jason was preceded in death by his Great Grandparents John and Lovida Babarovich; his Great Grandmother Virginia Landert; his Grandmother Virginia Sahlbom; his Grandmother Maxine Horne; his Great-Aunt and Uncle Frank and Betty Bussing; and his nephew Anthony The Littlest Pirate Goodwill. Jason is survived by his mother, Donna Horne; his father Robert Horne Jr; his sister Nicole Olson and her husband Darek; his grandfather Jack Sahlbom and his wife Roxie; his grandfather Robert Horne Sr. and his wife Leigh; his Aunt Patty and Uncle Jerry Goodwill; as well as other aunts, uncles and cousins; and his faithful companion Leo the crooked tailed wiener dog. In the end Jason received the same great care that he had administered to so many of his patients over the years. Jason passed away peacefully and with dignity at Evergreen Hospital, after a long struggle with illness, surrounded by love from his family.
