John G. Brooks, 70, husband of Mary Jo Brooks, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019. He was born in Cincinnati on January 13, 1949 to the late Chester and Ann Bastin Brooks. He retired from the State of Kentucky in the Environmental Protection Cabinet. John liked to fish and go to parties with his friends. In addition to his wife of 29 years, he is survived by his step-son, Tommy Jay (Mary Ann) Furnish, Stamping Ground; his brother, Mike (Joyce) Brooks, Central City; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; his lifelong friends from Elizabethtown, Bobby (Regina) Best, Bruce (Linda) Burgess, Don (Diane) Lewis, Gary (Nancy) Morris, and Roy (Janice) Berwick; and his neighbors, Frank and Andrea Edwards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-son, Bobby Jo Furnish; and his friends, David Collinsworth, and Ronnie Cordean. Services are private.
