Katherine "Kitty" Marie DeNise Miracle Aldridge, 83, wife of Perry Aldridge, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022. She was born at home in McKinney, Kentucky on December 26, 1938 to the late Margaret Williams DeNise Huff, of McKinney/Harrodsburg, KY and the late Gerald E. DeNise of McKinney/Harrodsburg, KY. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Aldridge was also preceded in death by her brother, Gerald E. DeNise II of MI. The town she was born in was first called Mckinney's Fort which was built by Archibald McKinney by 1792 he was her great, great, great grandfather. This early trading post was an important stop on Cumberland Trace. The settlement began as four log cabins and a stockade. Early settlers are buried in a cemetery on a knoll where two of her cousins still live to this day, their names are James Edward "Jim Ed" Williams and Ann Williams, Kitty was born in a home on this same knoll that was torn down to build the house that is there today, where her cousin Jim Ed lives and his sister Ann lives next door. In 1874 the name was changed to McKinney Station and later shortened to McKinney. Besides her husband of 38 years Perry Aldridge of Kitts Hill, OH, she is survived by her sons, David (Jackie) Miracle of Stroudsburg, PA, Steve (Alicia) Miracle of Louisville, KY; stepson, Perry O. Aldridge II of Ironton, OH; daughter, Karen (Anthony) DeLawder of Nicholasville, KY; stepdaughters, Ida Aldridge of Columbus, OH and Sandy Walizer (Bobby Holtzapfel) of Ironton, OH; grandchildren, Caleb, Stephanie, Ashley, Emma and Maggie Miracle, Chad, Chelsea and Chase Austin; stepgrandchildren, Josh DeLawder, Vlad Bennett, Drake Walizer and Quinn Holtzapfel; great grandchildren, Cooper, Clay and Ashton Miracle, Haiden Anderson, Carson Frazier, Cameron Stewart and Charlotte Morales. Mrs. Aldridge was wonderful at many things when she was younger. One thing was sewing, her daughter, Karen won many “Old Fashion Days” costume contests in grade school. She crocheted many beautiful afghans including baby afghans for her grandchildren that her family will cherish and pass down for years to come. She was an avid bowler for many years, earning many 300, 400 and 500 series patches and numerous trophies. Mrs. Aldridge also enjoyed making ceramics and because of that, her family has many beautiful keepsakes to cherish.
