Brian Anthony Putra

Brian passed away peacefully in his home on :date month=4 day=17 year=2009 Friday, April 17, 2009 :date , at age 65, He was born in :place :city Pasco :city , :state Washington :state :place , on :date month=2 day=26 year=1944 February 26, 1944 :date . He is survived by his two children, Sarah P. Salentine and Jay A. Putra, two grandchildren, Sophia K. Salentine and Mary Beth Salentine, and his sister, Mary K. Putra. Brian was first and foremost a devoted father to his children, Sarah and Jay. He was so proud to see them each grow and mature into thriving productive adults. His daughter, Sarah, is a School Psychologist for the :place Edmonds : : School District : :place and his son, Jay, is an ICU nurse in :place :city Boise :city , :state Idaho :state :place . He was always at his familys side, including his parents, who suffered many medical challenges in their later years. Brian could always to be counted on for love, counsel, and assistance through all the many avenues passed in life. Brian was an avid sailor having enjoyed many trips with family and friends over the years. He was also a hunter and fisherman and had many wonderful experiences with his son, Jay, pursuing that interest. Brian was also a member of the Sand Point Golf Club and was tortured by a lifelong addiction to the game of golf. He spent many afternoons playing the game with friends and colleagues. Brian completed his undergraduate work at :place Gonzaga : : University : :place in 1966, received a Juris Doctorate in 1969 at Hastings College of Law in :place :city San Francisco :city , :state California :state :place , where he was on the Hastings Law Review. He also received an LL.M in taxation from :place Boston : : University : :place in 1970. He was a partner in the Peterson Young Putra law firm and has been a respected and successful trial lawyer with his firm for over 35 years. He served on the Board of Governors of the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association and was Chairman of the Washington State Bar Associations Disciplinary Board. He has served on numerous committees of state, local and trial bar associations, and lectured at numerous trial practice seminars. He was a member of the American Association for Justice and the Washington Association for Justice. His practice emphasized the representation of plaintiffs in complex medical negligence and personal injury cases.
