Carol A. McKay
December 24th, 1954 - January 27th, 2023
Carol A. McKay a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and angel passed away on January 27, 2023 from lung complications. She was born in Cincinnati Ohio in 1954. She moved from Cincinnati to Lexington when her father became the manager of the new Fayette Mall Shillito Store. She met her husband Jim while he attended UK School of Architecture, and later they had two boys. She was blessed with five grandchildren and lived in Lexington until her death. Carol is survived by her husband of 47 years, James A McKay, Sons Justin P McKay (Samantha & grandchildren Carter, Greer, and Briar), Keith A McKay (Bonnie & grandchildren Emilie, and Hudson), Brothers Wayne Laib (Debbie, son Joe, daughter Kate), Frank Laib (Renee, sons Adam, Douglas, David, daughter Kelly), Greg Laib (Patty, daughters Krissie, Cynthia) and Sister Paula Wilton (sons Brandon, Austin) & (Juan Rivera) Carol graduated from Tates Creek High School – class of 1973 Carol’s first job was at Angelucci’s Men’s store in downtown Lexington. When they closed, she moved into the loan business which she stayed in until she retired from Lendmark in 2021. She loved her two dachshunds, loved to read, was an excellent cook, and had a fun loving personality. Her devotion to her family was easy to see, and she was a wonderful, giving friend to many people who shared her many interests. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in all of us. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a memorial donation in her memory – please contribute to the schools of her grandkids as follows: https://redwoodcoop.org/support/ https://redoaksforestschool.org/donate Private services are planned.
