Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Venice
Adam Kovall
February 2nd, 2019
Adam H. Kovall of Boyne City, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on February 2, 2019, at the age of 74. Adam was born in Bressler, Pennsylvania, on May 1, 1944. He and his family moved to Lansing, Michigan, where Adam attended school and went on to college at Michigan State University. He transferred to the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science in Milwaukee. Adam spent his early career years working as a Funeral Director in Lansing. From there he moved to Flushing, Michigan, and began working in business as a sales representative. In 1975, he began his own printing business, which expanded to include 3 companies: Kovall Business Forms, Schneider Printing, and Formaxx. Among other things, Adam was active in the Rotary Club and Flushing Valley Country Club. He had many interests and would try anything at least once (""except horseshit and menudo soup""). He was an avid golfer, Great Lakes sailor, college sports fan, and woodworker. Adam often said he had traveled to many spots throughout the world but always considered northern Michigan the best place he had been. After purchasing a cabin in Boyne, he and his family spent many weekends and vacations there. He moved to Boyne full-time in 2006 to enjoy his retirement years, with recent winters spent in Venice, Florida. He always maintained very close relationships with family and friends, and everyone knew those relationships were the most precious and important part of his life. He will be remembered for his quick wit, humor, love of life; and as a man full of integrity and compassion for others. Everyone, especially his grandkids, will always remember his unending quips and phrases. He is survived by his wife Janis; daughters Kolette Aylward (Ron) and Charlene Fox (John); stepsons Casey (Amy) King and Kienan King; sisters Janice Knight (Gary) and Elsa Hethorn; brother Jim Kovall (Joyce), and six grandchildren (Jake Aylward, Lukas Fox, Olive Fox, Henry Fox, Noel King, Kelly King), as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a myriad of friends. He was predeceased by two sisters, Pat Fercho and Theda Burns, and a brother, Bryon Kovall. Per Adam's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Adam's life will be held this summer at Sommerset Pointe Yacht Club in Boyne City MI. Memorial donations in memory of Adam can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) or the charity of your choice.
