Alda "Olsen" Orpha Ruth Brooks
November 17th, 1916 - August 6th, 2014
Alda was born in Rice Lake, Wisconsin to Conrad and Martha (Peterson) Olsen. She was the second daughter of four children (Evelyn Forry, Cyrus Olsen and Jane Oliver). She met her husband, Clyde Brooks, in 1941 in Philadelphia at a church conference. They began corresponding and married on April 12, 1942. After WWII, where Clyde served in North Africa/Europe, they began their ministry in Superior, WI, with full pastorates in Rice Lake, WI, Hawarden, IA, and Duluth, MN. She was the Duluth, MN, Deputy City Clerk for many years. In addition, they served in support ministries in West Germany. She had a deep faith and a love for Jesus and endeavored to pass on her legacy to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by, a son, Robert (Kathy/ deceased) Brooks of Bartlett, TN and their children, Katrina (Justin) Smith and two children, Towner and Emma; Karin (Cullen) Johnson; a daughter, Marcia (Sam) Kotka of Dayton, OR, and their four daughters: Suzanne (Don) Bullis, Sarah (David) Paz, and son, Gabriel; Stephanie (Jason) Shreve and Sherrie Kotka; a sister, Jane Oliver, of Rochester, MN, sister-in-law, Faye Olsen, Greenville, NC, and many nephews and nieces, and also cousins in Norway, Sweden and Denmark, besides the many friends who have been a recipient of her motherly love. A memorial Service will be held at the Potter's House, 205 NE Galloway St., McMinnville, Oregon, Monday, August 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Post comments and remembrance on her FaceBook page, Alda Brooks. We are requesting that financial memorials be sent to the Dancyville Assembly of God, 13925 Highway 76N, Somerville, TN 38068 for the Kathy Brooks Memorial Playground in her (Alda’s) honor. At Wilhelm's Portland Memorial, we have a rich history dating back to 1901 when we became the first crematory west of the Mississippi River, known then as The Portland Cremation Association. Our historic chapel, marked by its cornerstone placed on February 5th, 1901, has stood the test of time. Today, our memorial site spans 8 stories, approximately 7 miles of corridors of beautifully preserved architecture, and the largest mausoleum on the west coast, spanning 2.5 city blocks....
