Alois Mark "Uncle Louie" Ringhofer, 88 of Elmer, Minnesota passed Monday, March 10, 2008 in St. Mary's Hospital, Duluth. Uncle Louie was born on April 25, 1919. Louie loved to work hard which included farming, logging, trapping, fishing and hunting. He served in the Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Meadowlands and caretaker of the St. Joseph's Church and Cemetery. He will be remembered for his endless supply of bubble gum, his love of people, "Louie's Coffee Shop & Restaurant", Friday night poker, Sunday pinochle games, well witching, weather forecasting and a story about everything. Louie was preceded in death by his parents, Alois and Josephine; three sisters, Adele, Irene and Margaret; brother, Richard; and his cow dog Snapper. He is survived by brothers, Philip (Rose), and his farming partner, Peter(Betsy); sisters, Josephine, Ann(Dave), and Donna (Alan); sister-in-law, "Boots"; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Meadowlands. Burial followed in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Elmer.
