WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Altie Wayne Hooker, Jr., 40, of West Columbia, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1201 Mohawk Drive, West Columbia, SC 29169. Reverend Robert Reeves will officiate. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, West Columbia, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. Mr. Hooker went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 22, 2014. Born in West Columbia, he was the son of Altie Wayne Hooker, Sr. and Charlie Culbreth Hooker. Altie will always be remembered for his big smile and loving and giving heart. Tattooed on his arm is Altie's favorite Bible Verse, Micah 6:8, "What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." This was his guiding principle by which he lived his life. Surviving are his parents A. Wayne and Charlie Hooker; paternal grandfather, Youvnee W. Hooker, Sr.; aunts, Loree Starling (Jim) of Westminster and Beverly Shull (Freddie) of West Columbia; uncles, Gregg and Ray Culbreth, both of Columbia; special cousin, J.J. Nettles (Jenny) of Lexington and children, Kirsten, Trace and Maddox. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Frances Culbreth; paternal grandmother, Rose Hooker; uncle, Bob Hooker and an aunt, Corinne Webb. Memorials may be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, 443-A Meeting Street, West Columbia, SC 29169 or Trinity United Methodist Church, 1201 Mohawk Drive, West Columbia, SC 29169.
