Alva "Bubs" B. Nelson
June 4th, 1936 - November 6th, 2017
Alva B. "Bubs" Nelson, 81 of Cloquet died Monday, November 6, 2017 in the Solvay Hospice House in Duluth. Bubs was born June 4, 1936 in Cloquet to Alfred and Grace (Brooks) Nelson. He was a 1954 graduate of Cloquet High School. He married Nancy Raina on September 21, 1957 in Cloquet and had just celebrated 60 years of marriage. Bubs was a truck driver and was a member of the Teamsters Local 346 for 33 years. After retirement he loved working at his gas station and driving shuttle for the Ford garage in Cloquet. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and family gatherings, but especially spending time with the grandkids. He was preceded in death his parents; brother, Norman; sister, Delores Carter and son in law, Owen Korhonen. Bubs is lovingly survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy; children, Robin (Dave) Davis of Cloquet, LuAnn (Terry) Heikkila of Floodwood, Tammy (Scott) Heikkinen of Lake Nebagamon, WI, Alan (Stephanie) Nelson of Moorhead and Sarah (Peter) Kowitz of Duluth; grandchildren, Missy, Lewie (Kayloni), Megan (Lance), Jordan, Erin, Nolan, Ava, Carter, Ansel and Owen; great grandchild Emery; brother, Calvin Nelson of Cloquet and sister, Phyllis (Steve) Montgomery of Laughlin, NV. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00- 8:00 p.m. Friday November 10, 2017 in the Fireside Room in Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Solvay Hospice House, Duluth. The world is a little bit quieter today!
