Ann Bohlman, resident of Aston Gardens at Pelican Pointe, Venice, FL passed peacefully on May 29 due to natural causes at the age of 95. Born June 8, 1920 as Ana Margaret Telesmanich to immigrant parents in New York City, Ann is predeceased by her parents, sisters Frances, Vera, Marie and brother Charles, and beloved husband of 47 years, William Bohlman (1990). Ann and Bill met while working at the Equitable Life Assurance Society in Manhattan. They were married in a historic blizzard in NYC while Bill was on a furlough from the Army during World War II. Following their wedding they resided in St. Louis where Bill was stationed for about two years, before returning to NY, where they raised three children on Long Island. They lived in Massapequa Park for 26 happy years before retiring to Venice in 1980. Ann led an active life, always volunteering in the schools and community, holding positions such as Cub Scout den leader, classroom Mother, and catechist principal. She helped with many organizations, including the Venice Cancer Society and the Association of the Blind as a driver. She liked doing crafts, especially macramé and ceramics and created many beautiful heirloom pieces. Ann was a talented seamstress, an award-winning quilter and member of the Venice Quilt Guild. She gifted her family with her handiworks. She and Bill enjoyed ballroom dancing and Ann also took up tap dancing in her middle years. An avid reader and a lifelong learner, Ann regularly took adult education classes and was a graduate of the Long Island Lighting Company’s education series. Despite being afflicted with heart problems, acute spinal stenosis, low vision and other painful physical ailments, Ann continued to lead an active social life and enjoyed playing cards and dining with her Aston Gardens friends, always maintaining an optimistic outlook. Ann will be lovingly remembered for her keen, logical mind and her kind, practical nature. She leaves behind her three grieving children, Michael (Kathleen) of Venice, FL, Paul of New Albany, OH, and Kathryn Cheza (Donald) of Lorton, VA, seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and cherished friends.
