Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Venice
Arline Laurino
June 21st, 1936 - June 5th, 2021
On June 5, 2021, Arline Laurino passed away peacefully. All of her surviving children were with her at the time of her passing: Pasquale (John Komasa) Laurino, Carl (Jerilyn) Laurino, Catherine (Tim Kennedy) Ketler, James (Diane) Laurino and Michael (Trinity) Laurino. Arline was predeceased by her parents, Carl and Signe Anderson, her brothers Carl ""Bill"" Anderson, and John Anderson, her daughter Marie Sanborn, and her loving husband of nearly 63 years, James Laurino. Arline was born in Queens New York and lived in the greater New York metropolitan area until shortly after the birth of her fifth child. The Laurino seven moved to Appleton Wisconsin, and ten years later son Michael Laurino made it ""The Laurino Eight"". Arline's greatest love was her family, and she somehow found a way to literally and figuratively feed us all. Whether it was serving sumptuous meals, carting us to sporting events, music camps, school related activities, or bailing us out of real or perceived challenges, mom was always there for us. Despite the obvious intensity of raising six children, and supporting husband Jim, Arline was active in the community. Most notably as part of the Fox Valley Symphony League with whom she served as Treasurer, and garnered the Brava award in 1983. She was also involved as a teacher's/librarian aid at Appleton Public School, volunteered with meals on wheels – St Joseph Food Pantry, and as a religious instructor at St Mary's Catholic Church in Appleton. Arline, Jim and Michael moved to Walpole Mass in the late 1980's for the final stop in Jim's career where Arline continued to support Jim in his professional career, and Michael's high school activities including golf and dramatic performance. To put an exclamation point on Arline's endurance as a stay-at-home mom, she delivered Pasquale in 1958, and had kids under her roof until Michael set off to college in 1994! Arline did not take up the game of golf until she was in her 40's. From her reluctant start, she became a passionate player, and ironically would need to coax Jim to the course as their retirement years marched on. Her drive and tenacity that made her successful as a mother, also served her well on the golf course. She was able to capture the Venice Country Club President's Cup flighted championship in 2013 Arline's athletic prowess was also on display on the bowling alley where the dynasty of her Ooo Bopperoos team dominated the Breakfast League in similar fashion to the Celtics, Patriots, and the glory years of Arline's beloved Green Bay Packers In addition to her surviving children, Arline is survived by her sisters Dorothy Gramstad and Bertha (Robert) Douglas, her son-in-law Don Sanborn, grandchildren Chase and Trent Sanborn, Nicholas and HaliMae Laurino, Alexa Laurino, and Olivia Laurino, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral Mass and celebration of life will be held for family and friends at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Venice, Florida on Monday October 25, 2021. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The American. Cancer Society.
